Hedge funds scoop up distressed mortgages, foreclosures

Hedge funds, private-equity groups and other investors are increasingly investing in delinquent mortgages. The funds have bought tens of thousands of distressed loans and foreclosed properties from Wall Street investment banks looking to shed bad assets. "We're much easier to deal with than a bank," said Jacob Benaroya, managing partner of New Jersey-based Biltmore Capital Group. MSNBC (07/30)
